Jayhawks Come Up Short Against FSU, 3-1

EAST LANSING, Mich. –

The Kansas volleyball squad dropped its Saturday afternoon contest to <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>FloridaState in a four game match. The Jayhawks (2-3) notched a 30-22 victory in game one before falling 20-30, 27-30 and 16-30 to the Seminoles (3-1). Kansas will wrap up play in the Spartan Invitational later this evening in a 4 p.m. (CST) contest against the Missouri State Bears (5-1). Emily Brown, Savannah Noyes and Flavia Lino tallied eight kills a piece to lead the Jayhawks. Brown also contributed a team-high 19 assists.

The Jayhawks used a strong combination of hitting and blocking en route to their 30-22 win in game one. The team swung for a .273 hitting percentage and went up for eight blocks to keep the Seminoles to a -.038 hitting percentage. KU’s Brittany Williams went a perfect 4-for-4 in her attack attempts and Savannah Noyes added four kills of her own on a .500 clip.

The Seminoles came back firing as Kansas was unable to find the answer it needed in the match’s final games.
