Brown and Williams Named To All-Tournament Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. –

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Kansas’ Emily Brown and Brittany Williams were named to the Spartan Invitational All-Tournament Team Saturday night following the conclusion of the four-team tournament. Brown and Williams helped the Jayhawks to a second place finish in the tournament.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Brown, a senior hitter/setter, started all three matches for KU and led the team with 5.46 sets per game, while also chipping in 1.85 kills per game, 1.38 digs per game and 0.92 blocks per game. Brown led Kansas in assists in each of its three matches. The Baldwin, Kan., native also posted a team-high seven block assists against host MichiganState and was one of three Jayhawks to come up with a team-high eight kills versus FloridaState.

Williams, out of New Orleans, La., paced KU’s offense with 2.08 kills per game in three starts. Williams also added 1.08 blocks per game and 0.38 digs per game. The middle blocker had a team-best and season-high 13 kills against MichiganState and followed that performance with an impressive defensive showing against FloridaState notching seven total blocks. Williams wrapped up the tournament with her own personal weekend-best .289 hitting percentage in the team’s victory over MissouriState.
