Gault Named to Soccer America's Team of the Week

Sept. 2, 2004

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas sophomore defender Holly Gault was named to Soccer America’s Team of the Week on Thursday following her outstanding play during the Jayhawks’ season opening road trip.

The Spring Hill, Kan., native played a crucial part of KU’s defense, which shut out UNLV and BYU on the road last weekend to give the Jayhawks a 2-0 start for only the fourth time in school history. Gault also chipped in offensively, scoring the game-winning goal in KU’s 1-0 victory over BYU. For the weekend, Gault and the rest of the KU defense allowed only 13 shots, seven of which made it on goal.

The No. 17 Jayhawks will be back in action this weekend as they will host the 2004 KUStore.com Crimson and Blue Invitational at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Kansas will square off against Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 5 p.m. on Friday and round out the tournament playing St. Louis on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

In addition to KU’s two games, St. Louis and Mississippi will square off on Friday at 2:30 p.m., while on Sunday, Mississippi State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee will battle at noon.
