Kansas Men's Basketball Finishes 4-0 in Canada with 98-76 Win Against Burnaby All-Stars

BURNABY, British Columbia – Kansas senior Wayne Simien scored 25 points in a 98-76 win against the Burnaby Mountain All-Stars as KU completed its four-game exhibition tour of British Columbia, Canada, with a 4-0 record, here Monday.

Like the other three victories over the weekend, KU used its speed and depth to wear out the Burnaby Mountain All-Stars. KU had 15 steals for the game and scored 20 fast break points. Additionally the Jayhawks’ bench produced 37 points for the game.

Simien was dominant throughout his 25 minutes on the court. The Leavenworth, Kan., preseason Wooden Award candidate was 12-for-14 from the floor, which included 1-for-2 from three-point range. He also pulled down four rebounds and had two steals against the Clan.

KU senior Michael Lee found his range as well going 6-for-10 from the floor with 17 points. The Portland, Ore., guard was 3-for-4 from three point range as well and had three steals.

Freshman Alex Galindo scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half. The Newark, N.J., rookie was 6-for-8 from the field and was also 3-for-4 from way out.

A crowd of 1,500 at the Chancellor’s Gymnasium on the campus of Simon Fraser University saw KU shoot 65.1 percent for the game.

Kansas won its four games by an average of 35.8 points and had a rebound margin of +17.8 per game. Of the 13 players who played on the trip, 12 averaged 11 or more minutes per contest.

Next up for the KU men’s basketball team is preseason conditioning until the October 15th annual Late Night in the Phog.
