Sept. 7, 2009
LAWRENCE, Kan. –
Senior midfielder Monica Dolinsky has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com’s National Women’s Team of the Week for her efforts over the past weekend. Dolinsky became the first Jayhawk to be honored on a national team of the week this season, and the third all-time to be honored by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Dolinsky, a senior from Carmel, Ind., scored two goals and collected two assists this past weekend, including the game-winning goal against Rhode Island Sunday. The senior midfielder’s six points helped the Jayhawks down Long Beach State (3-1) and URI (3-1) at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. She currently leads the team with three assists this season and is second with seven points.
TopDrawerSoccer.com is a website devoted to the sport of soccer. Each week, the editors of the site pick a Team of the Week in both men’s and women’s college soccer.
Dolinsky and the 23rd-ranked Jayhawks will take on Denver Friday as part of the Colorado College Invitational in Colorado Springs. KU eliminated the Pioneers from the NCAA Tournament last season with a 2-1 victory in the first round. Friday’s kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CDT.
