Kansas Freshman Named to TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week

Sept. 8, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas freshman Emily Cressy has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week. It’s the second national weekly honor for the Jayhawk forward, who was named to the Soccer Buzz Team of the Week on Aug. 26.

Cressy, a freshman from Ventura, Calif., scored two goals, including the game-winner in KU’s 5-2 triumph over UAB last Friday. The 5-foot-5 freshman is currently tied for the lead in the Big 12 with nine points and four goals in KU’s four matches. She became the first Jayhawk freshman to record a multi-goal match since Monica Dolinsky turned the trick against Missouri in 2006 (fellow freshman Kortney Clifton also had two goals against UAB Friday).

TopDrawerSoccer.com is a website devoted to the sport of soccer. Each week, the editors of the site pick a Team of the Week in both men’s and women’s college soccer.

Cressy and the 19th-ranked Jayhawks (4-0) will travel to Missouri State for a non-conference battle Friday at 7 p.m.
