Following its 5-0 start, the Kansas soccer team finds itself ranked 13th in this week’s Soccer America poll. The No. 13 ranking is the highest for the Jayhawks since Nov. 9, 2004, when the team was also ranked No. 13, in the Soccer Times poll.

KU defeated Long Beach State and Rhode Island by 3-1 scores over the weekend at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex, to start 5-0 for the second consecutive season. This marks the third time in team history that the Jayhawks have won at least five-straight matches to open the season.

Kansas is also ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll for the first time this year, checking in at No. 22 this week. Big 12 rivals Texas A&M (No. 13), Oklahoma State (No. 19) and Colorado (No. 20) are also among the NSCAA Top 25.

The Jayhawks will put their perfect record on the line this weekend when they participate in the Colorado College Invitational in Colorado Springs. KU will meet Denver in the first match of the tournament Friday at 2:30 p.m. CDT, which is a rematch of the first round of last year’s NCAA Tournament.
