Kansas Senior Dolinsky Earns Two More Weekly Awards

Sept. 8, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Senior midfielder Monica Dolinsky has been named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week as well as to the Soccer America National Team of the Week. This marks the third individual accolade that Dolinsky has received this week, after being named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week on Monday.

Dolinsky, a senior from Carmel, Ind., scored two goals and collected two assists this past weekend, including the game-winning goal against Rhode Island Sunday. The senior midfielder’s six points helped the Jayhawks down Long Beach State (3-1) and URI (3-1) at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. She currently leads the team with three assists this season and is second with seven points.

The senior midfielder is the third Jayhawk to be honored by the Big 12 this season. Last week, junior defender Lauren Jackson was named Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman goalkeeper Kat Liebetrau was named Newcomer of the Week.

Soccer America is a monthly magazine that covers every level of soccer around the world from high school to the World Cup. Each week, the publication releases a Top 25 poll as well as a national team of the week.

Dolinsky and the 13th-ranked Jayhawks will take on Denver Friday as part of the Colorado College Invitational in Colorado Springs. KU eliminated the Pioneers from the NCAA Tournament last season with a 2-1 victory in the first round. Friday’s kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CDT.
