Softball Announces Fall Slate

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

A mid-October tournament and two single games are in store for the Kansas softball team this fall, which announced its fall ball schedule Wednesday. All games will be held at Arrocha Ballpark and are free to the public.

The Jayhawks, who finished 21-35 last season, will open their fall season with a 6 p.m. contest versus NAIA neighbor Baker University on Sept. 29.

The following week, Kansas will host Johnson County Community College at 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 before wrapping up the fall season with the Jayhawk Invitational, Oct. 9-10. KU will welcome Seminole State and Washburn University on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. Sunday, the Jayhawks conclude the weekend with a 2 p.m. contest versus Butler County Community College and against Labette County Community College at 4 p.m.

Twelve letterwinners return for Kansas in 2010-11, including All-Big 12 Second Team selection sophomore Mariah Montgomery. Second-year head coach Megan Smith has also added eight new faces to the Jayhawk family.
