In its final tune-up before conference play, the University of Kansas volleyball team (7-1) will host the Kansas Invitational this weekend, Sept. 10-11 to conclude an eight-match homestand. The Jayhawks will face Winthrop (2-4) and its first ranked foe of 2010 in No. 18 Northern Iowa (5-2) on Friday before wrapping up the weekend with a contest versus Arkansas- Little Rock (1-6) Saturday.

Live stats and video are available for all of the matches at www.KUAthletics.com.

KU, which suffered its first setback versus Middle Tennessee State Tuesday to spoil a seven-match win streak, will look to continue its defensive prowess as the Jayhawks currently rank second in the Big 12 Conference limiting opponents to an average attack percentage of just .143.

Kansas has also excelled at the service line this season as it currently paces the Big 12 with 2.11 aces per set. Four Jayhawks rank in the top 10 for aces per set including senior Melissa Manda, junior Allison Mayfield, sophomore Morgan Boub and redshirt freshman Caroline Jarmoc.

This weekend could mark an important milestone for Kansas head coach Ray Bechard. Bechard, who is in his 13th season at the helm of the Jayhawks’ program, owns 197 career victories at KU as he needs just three more wins to reach 200.
