KU Leads Appalachian State, 13-0 at Halftime

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas football team took at 13-0 lead into the lockerroom at halftime against Appalachian State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

Senior quarterback Brian Luke connected with junior wide receiver Brian Murph on a 59-yard completion to the Mountaineers’ 31-yard line late in the first quarter. Senior running back Clark Green then rumbled in for a four-yard touchdown run to give the Jayhawks a 7-0 lead with 32 seconds left in the opening stanza.

Junior running back Jon Cornish found the end zone with a nine-yard touchdown run to give the Jayhawks a 13-0 advantage with 10:14 left in the second quarter. Sophomore kicker Scott Webb missed the resulting extra point after completing 31-of-31 previously in his career.
