KU Soccer to Celebrate Youth Soccer Month

Sept. 11, 2006

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas soccer team will join millions of Americans this September in celebrating Youth Soccer Month. The Jayhawks will promote awareness to the benefits of playing youth soccer by offering $2 admission to all youth players who wear their uniforms to KU’s Friday contest against Pepperdine as well as their Sunday match against Central Florida at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Friday’s match is scheduled for a 5 p.m., kickoff, while play Sunday will begin at 1 p.m.

Youth Soccer Month is dedicated to emphasize soccer as the leading participation sport among American children and as a top contributor to the healthy lifestyle of families across the country. Interest in the sport is at its highest levels ever in the United States, with more than 19 million children participating regularly.
