Men's Golf In 14th At The Ridges

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The No. 24 Kansas men’s golf team is in 14th place, in a 15-team field, after two rounds of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges in Johnson City, Tenn. Kansas opened the two-day tournament with a first round total of 301, then followed with a second round score of 290 for a two-round total of 591 at The Ridges Golf and Country Club.

“We had a very tough morning round,” head coach Ross Randall said. “We were able to put together a much better afternoon round, so we still have a chance to move up.”

Oklahoma currently leads the tournament at 4-under par, 19 strokes better than KU. Senior Kevin Ward (Leawood, Kan.) leads the Jayhawks after he shot a 142 two-round total to place in a tie for seventh. Senior Andrew Price (Lake Forest, Ill.) is tied for 40th after carding two rounds of 74 for a two-round total of 148. Sophomore Gary Woodland (Berryton, Kan.) is tied for 51st after he shot rounds of 78 and 72 for a two-round total of 150. Sophomore Tyler Docking (Olathe, Kan.) is tied for 54th place after he carded a score of 78 in the first round, followed by a 73 in the second, for a two-round 151 total. Sophomore Barrett Martens (Platte City, Mo.) is in 78th place after carding an 82 in the first round and a 76 in the second for a 158 two-round total.

“Hopefully we will have better luck tomorrow,” Randall said.

Kansas will finish tournament action Sunday, Sept. 12, in the third round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges. Tee-times are set for 8:00 a.m.
