Sept. 12, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas head women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson announced Friday that sophomore Chakeitha Weldon has elected to leave the team for personal reasons.

“We wish Chakeitha well in her future endeavors,” Henrickson said.

After arriving at KU for the 2007-08 season, the Atlanta, Ga., native played in 10 games, including a 10-point, three-assist outing versus Oklahoma, before injuring her knee in early February and missing the remainder of the season. Weldon averaged 2.6 points and 0.4 rebounds in her brief Kansas career.
