Avdeeva, Bukina Tabbed in Preseason ITA Rankings

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas’ Elizaveta Avdeeva and Ksenia Bukina have been tabbed No. 30 in the initial doubles rankings, and Bukina also appears in the singles rankings at No. 115 as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released the first poll of the 2006-07 season.

Avdeeva and Bukina were the Jayhawk’s top doubles team last season, compiling a record of 20-13 and garnering All-Big 12 honors.

As just a freshman, Bukina also occupied KU’s top singles slot for the majority of the year, going 17-19, which earned the Obninsk, Russia, native an All-Conference selection in singles play as well.

Avdeeva, Bukina, and the rest of the Jayhawks will kick off their fall season at the Wake Forest Tournament on Sept. 22-24 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
