KU's Bal Tied For Third Following Weather-Shortened Second Round

LINCOLN, Neb.–Kansas senior Meghna Bal is tied for third place at even par following the first round of the Chip N Club Women’s Golf Invitational Monday. Weather forced a delay in the action until Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

Kansas is in third place overall following the first round, just one stroke behind second-place Kansas State which sits at 299 on the day. Texas-San Antonio leads the tournament at 294.

Weather delayed the action three times beginning with a lightning delay and ending with a rain delay at 5:35 p.m. when play was ultimately suspended until tomorrow morning.

All five Jayhawks broke 80 in the first round. Bal led the way with a 72, while Grace Thiry shot a 75 and is tied for 14th. Fhong Boonraksasat is tied for 18th at 76, Jennifer Clark is tied for 23rd at 77 and Katy Nugent is tied for 28th at 79.

Two Jayhawks are competing as individuals. Audrey Yowell is tied for 49th at 80 and Maria Jackson is tied for 82nd at 88.

Senior Grace Thiry is in a tie for 14th at three over par. Redshirt freshman Fhong Boonraksasat is in a tie for 18th at fiver over par.

The teams will finish the second round and begin the third and final round Tuesday.
