Kansas Soccer Soars in the National Rankings

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Riding the strength of a school record 6-0 start, the Kansas Jayhawk soccer team climbed to new heights this week in the national women’s soccer rankings. KU is ranked in the top 10 in all four major collegiate women’s soccer polls.

After defeating #7 Clemson last weekend for its first win over a top ten opponent in program history, Kansas climbed 13 spots from No. 21 to No. 8 in NSCAA/Adidas poll. In the SoccerBuzz poll, KU rose from No. 9 three spots to No. 6. In addition to the NSCAA/Adidas and SoccerBuzz poll, the Jayhawks appear at No. 7 in the Soccer America Top 25, up from No. 13 a week ago, and No. 10 in the Soccer Times Top 25, up from No. 18 last week.

Kansas soccer will host a free clinic for area children, ages kindergarten through 8th grade, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. The Jayhawks are back in action on Friday, Sept. 17, as they host Mississippi at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex at 5 p.m.
