Tennis To Open Fall Season

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas tennis team begins its fall season of play this weekend with a trip to Wilmington, N.C., for the Seahawk Invitational. The three-day tournament begins on Friday, Sept. 17 and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 19. The event marks the beginning of the team’s fall season.

Head coach Amy Hall-Holt welcomes back four players from a year ago including junior Christine Skoda, junior Luiza Loureiro, sophomore Brittany Brown and sophomore Ashley Filberth. Joining the mix will be a trio of freshmen including Lauren Hommel, Anna Jackson and Stephanie Smith. Returning to the KU sidelines in 2004-05 is assistant coach Frank Polito. Polito served his first stint at KU in 1996.

Following this weekend’s tournament, the `Hawks head to Tulsa, Okla., for the Tulsa Invitational on Sept. 24-Sept. 26. For updated results and more information, visit www.kuathletics.com.
