After its quick stop at Kansas State Wednesday, the Kansas volleyball team (9-3, 0-1 Big 12) will return to Lawrence for its ninth home match in the last 10 contests to host Texas A&M (7-4, 1-0 Big 12) Saturday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

KU’s defense will be put to the test as it tries to overcome a hot Aggies team that is riding a four-match winning streak, including a 3-0 sweep of No. 8 Texas Thursday night. The Jayhawks’ have limited its opponents to a .145 attack percentage, which ranks third in the Big 12. Nine of the Jayhawks’ 12 foes so far this season have hit below .200.

On offense, senior outside hitter Karina Garlington continues to lead the team averaging 3.44 kills per set, which ranks eighth in the Big 12. Junior outside Allison Mayfield also ranks in the top 10 adding 3.05 kills per set. Guiding the offense is freshman setter Kara Wehrs with 9.32 assists per set, but junior Nicole Tate has seen an increased role at setter averaging 9.38 assists per set over the last three matches.

A victory Saturday would earn Kansas head coach Ray Bechard his 200th career win at KU. Bechard owns a 915-237 career record in his 26th year of coaching, including a 716-60 record in 13 years at Barton County Community College and a 199-177 mark at KU.
