Women's golf in 12th as second round ends early

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Play halted in the second round due to darkness on the field on the first day of the Ron Moore Invitational at Highlands Ranch Golf Club (6,518-yard, par 72) in Highlands Ranch, Colo. After shooting 309 in the opening round, Kansas currently sits in 12th place of the 18-team field midway through round two.

Senior Annie Giangrosso leads the Jayhawks after firing a two-over-par in the first round to claim seventh place in the competition.

Sophomore Emily Powers carded a first-round score of 77 and is currently four-over-par in midst of the second round. Freshman Meghna Bal, who is also through the front nine of her second round, shot a first-round score of 79 and is currently tied for 56th.

Sophomore Meghan Gockel and freshman Grace Thiry are currently tied for 70th after carding 70 each in first round action. When play stopped in the second round, Gockel was currently sitting four-over-par, while Thiry was seven-over-par.

Play will resume on Tuesday with the completion of the second round before third-round play begins.
