Kansas Soccer to Celebrate Youth Soccer Month

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas soccer team will celebrate Youth Soccer Month as they play host to 2006 NCAA Tournament participants <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Illinois at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 and Cal on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

During the month of September, US Youth Soccer works nationwide to emphasize soccer as the top youth participation sport in America and a leading contributor to the healthy lifestyle of millions of American families.

All area youth soccer players who wear their team uniform or t-shirt to the matches on Friday and Sunday will receive admission for $3. Fans attending the games will receive free pom poms as well as Kansas Soccer posters and schedule magnets. Members of the Kansas Soccer team will be available for autographs after each contest.

Season Tickets Available

Kansas Soccer season tickets are available for purchase. Kansas will open the Big 12 Conference portion of their season on the road at Baylor. The Jayhawks will return to Lawrence to host OklahomaState and Oklahoma on Oct. 12and Oct. 14. Kansas will be at home for the final three regular season matches of the year. Nebraska and IowaState will come to town on October 26 and 28. Kansas will host the 2007 Border Showdown with Missouri at 3 pm on Nov. 2.
