Kansas Tennis Concludes Play at UNM Invitational

Sept. 21, 2008

Albuqueque, N.M. –

Erin Wilbert and Maria Martinez provided the only wins of the day for the Kansas tennis team, which finished its first tournament of the fall season at the University of New Mexico on Sunday.

Six Jayhawks played in the consolation brackets with Katerina Morosova, Alessandra Dzuba, Kate Goff and Yuliana Svistun, each dropping their matches. Despite the win-loss ratio, Coach Amy Hall-Holt is pleased with the weekend.

“We did a lot of good things,” Hall-Holt said. “There are a lot of things we need to work on, especially since we’re so young. Our freshmen are definitely going to benefit from more experience, and I know they are glad to have the first tournament under their belts. Each tournament, each practice we’re just going to keep getting better.”

Kansas will return to action Friday, Sept. 26 when it hosts the Jayhawk Invitational at the First Serve Tennis facility in Lawrence, Kan.
