Bill Self Kansas Basketball Coaches Clinic Set for October 24

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Bill Self Kansas Basketball Coaches Clinic will be held Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Allen Fieldhouse.

Those attending the clinic – open to all coaches at all levels – will be able to watch Kansas’ men’s basketball practice on Friday, Oct. 23, with guest speaker Del Harris addressing the clinicians following practice. Presentations by Self and his staff along with an inside look at a Kansas Basketball practice will highlight the event.

Self, the 2009 national coach of the year by eight different organizations and has guided KU to the last five Big 12 regular-season titles, and the Jayhawk assistant coaches will host the event. Self has averaged 28.2 wins per season at Kansas and has guided the Jayhawks to three NCAA Tournament Elite Eights, including the 2008 Final Four and NCAA National Championship.

Harris has been in the coaching profession for more than 50 years including being named the NBA coach of the year in 1994-95 while with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The clinic officially begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended.

Cost of the clinic is $90 for those that pre-register and want a ticket to the KU vs. OU football game. Pre-registration forms must be received by Friday, October 16th to receive a football game ticket. The cost is $60 for those that pre-register and don’t want a football ticket. $70 for those that register at the gate. No football tickets will be available to on-site registrants.
