Kansas Women's Tennis Starts Strong In KU Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women’s tennis team started the 2012 fall season strong Friday at Jayhawk Tennis Center, going undefeated in singles play in the KU Invitational.
The Jayhawks went a combined 20-2 in singles and doubles play, with six KU players finishing the opening day without a loss, including juniors Monica Pezzotti, Dylan Windom and Claire Dreyer. Freshmen Maria Jose Cardona and Anastasija Trubica, as well as junior transfer Haley Fournier, also went undefeated in their Kansas debuts.
Juniors Victoria Khanevskaya, Amy Barnthouse, Paulina Los and sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña all advanced in their respective singles draws before each finishing the day 1-1 in doubles play.
The KU Invitational will continue Saturday at 9 a.m. at Jayhawk Tennis Center and is free to the public. For results and updates, please check back to KUAthletics.com throughout the weekend.
