Former KU Pitcher Tom Gorzelanny Makes MLB Debut

LAWRENCE, Kan. –
Former University of Kansas pitcher Tom Gorzelanny made his Major League Baseball debut on Tuesday, Sept. 20, for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The left-hander earned the start against Houston and pitched 4 1/3 innings, scattering seven hits while striking out two. Pittsburgh fell to the Astros, 7-4.
Gorzelanny saw action in 21 games as a KU freshman in 2002. The Orland Park, Ill., native started seven games and tallied a 3-7 record while earning three saves. He struck out 54 batters in 61 innings of work.
