Coach Bechard Meets with Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club

Sept. 22, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas head volleyball coach Ray Bechard took a break from preparing for the Jayhawks’ Big 12 Conference opener against Texas to talk with the Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club, Thursday morning.

Bechard met with the local chapter for a 7 a.m. breakfast and then took to the podium to discuss this year’s team, his career and general coaching thoughts and philosophies. Afterwards, he took several questions from club members, including topics such as uniform styles and how Horejsi Family Athletics Center compares to other volleyball venues across the conference.

When the meeting adjourned, Bechard met individually with several of the meeting attendees, many of whom have been long-time fans of the KU volleyball program. He concluded his visit by posing for pictures and meeting different members of the club.

Bechard joined the list of KU coaches asked to participate in the Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club’s meetings as this month the focus is on Kansas Athletics. KU Athletic Director, Dr. Sheahon Zenger, was the first speaker of the month, followed by women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson and men’s golf coach Kit Grove. Next week, men’s basketball director of operations Barry Hinson will speak at the final meeting of the month.
