Kansas Tennis to Host KU Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – –

For the second year in a row, the Kansas tennis team will host the KU Invitational at First Serve Tennis Center in Lawrence Sept. 25-27. Match action begins at 9 a.m. each day.

The KU Invitational is the second of four fall tournaments for the Jayhawks, who were led by sophomore Alessandra Dzuba at the UNC-Wilmington Tournament Sept. 11-13. The Jayhawks compiled a 7-5 doubles record and went 9-10 in singles play. Dzuba went undefeated in her bracket while sophomore Erin Wilbert finished second with a singles record of 2-1. In doubles play, sophomore Ekaterina Morozova and freshman Victoria Khanevskaya finished first in the consolation round with a record of 3-1. All eight Jayhawks will compete in both singles and doubles this weekend.

Also competing in this weekend’s tournament will be UMKC, Illinois State and Saint Louis. The KU Invitational will be the third fall tournament for Saint Louis, the second for Illinois State and the first for UMKC.
