Kansas Sophomore Jeff Withey Out 4-6 Weeks with Broken Foot

Sept. 24, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas sophomore center Jeff Withey will miss four to six weeks due to a broken foot, KU men’s basketball coach Bill Self said Friday.

“Jeff broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during individual workouts earlier this week,” Self said. “He had surgery and doctors expect a full recovery in four to six weeks. We do not want to bring Jeff back too quickly.”

Withey, 7-0, was a redshirt freshman in 2009-10 after transferring from Arizona following the fall 2008 semester. The San Diego, Calif., native appeared in 15 games for KU last season and averaged three minutes, 1.3 points and 1.4 rebounds with six blocked shots. Withey’s best outing of the season came at Iowa State where he scored eight points, on 4-of-6 shooting, and pulled down five rebounds.
