Softball Opens Fall Season This Weekend At Home

LAWRENCE, Kan. –
Kansas softball opens its 2008 fall season this weekend when it hosts the Fall Invitational at Arrocha Ballpark. The Jayhawks welcome Butler County CC, Emporia State, Johnson County CC and Washburn in the two day tournament. Admission to all of the events is free.
Kansas returns 13 players, including two all-Big 12 performers in senior Dougie McCaulley and junior Amanda Jobe, from a team that finished 37-19 overall and 7-11 in Big 12 Conference play last season. KU also welcomes five newcomers in Marissa Ingle, Sarah Blair, Leah Daiber, Alicia Irwin and Kelsey Alsdorf.
The Jayhawks will play in one more tournament during the fall when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa, Oct. 4-5, for the Hawkeye Classic.
