Children's Miracle Network Gives One Boy a Special Experience

Sept. 25, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Cole Clifton got the opportunity to spend the day with the Kansas women’s soccer team on Sunday, Sept. 25 when the team hosted Oral Roberts. The exciting experience was designated as the “Miracle Game” by the Children’s Miracle Network.

Clifton, a 10-year-old from Wichita, Kan., is battling Leukemia and is the cousin to current KU soccer seniors, Kortney and Kelsey Clifton. He and his family were in attendance as well as students from the KU student organization, Dance Marathon.

Clifton was made an honorary member of the team that included special privileges like his own locker in the KU lockerroom and an all-access look at the Kansas soccer team. Before the game he presented the game ball and then sat on the sideline with the team during the contest.

The “Miracle Child” turned out to be a good luck charm for the soccer team as the Jayhawks flew past the Golden Eagles, 6-1, at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
