Jayhawks Look to Continue Strong Start at Cardinal Intercollegiate

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas men’s golf team will look to continue its strong start to the 2008-09 campaign when they travel to Simpsonville, Ky. Sept. 29-30 to compete in the Cardinal Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Louisville.

The Jayhawks have recorded top-five finishes in their first two events this fall with third-place finishes in both the Fairway Club Invitational and Kansas Invitational.

Head Coach Kit Grove will utilize the same line-up for the third straight tournament consisting of seniors Walt Koelbel and Andrew Storm, sophomore Nate Barbee, and freshmen Ian Anson and Blake Giroux.

Barbee has started his sophomore campaign in fine fashion with two top-10 finishes and under-par rounds in three of his first five rounds of the season.

Anson, Koebel, and Storm have all recorded top-20 finishes in the early parts of the 2008-09 season.

The 15-team field at the Cardinal Intercollegiate features in-state rival Kansas St., along with Indiana, Marquette, and Cincinnati.

The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Sept. 29, followed by the final round on Sept. 30. Check back to kuathletics.com for complete results and recap.
