Kansas Baseball Opens Fall Practices Tuesday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas baseball begins its journey toward the 2012 season by opening its 45-day fall practice schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m., at Hoglund Ballpark. The Jayhawks will practice Tuesday until Nov. 6 in preparation for the upcoming season.

The team will scrimmage at various times throughout the fall, including Friday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. in KU’s first public event of the season. KU is also scheduled to scrimmage on Saturday at 4:15 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission to the scrimmages is free of charge.

Kansas will return 17 letterwinners, including six position starters and six pitchers, from last year’s team which finished 26-30 overall and placed ninth in the Big 12. KU also will be welcoming in 13 freshmen and one transfer to the fold this season.

Head coach Ritch Price is beginning his 10th season at Kansas and has an overall record of 299-250-2 (.544), which includes a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament.
