LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas men’s and women’s basketball teams will celebrate the beginning of basketball practice at the 23rd annual Late Night in the Phog Friday, Oct. 12, in Allen Fieldhouse.

The 2007 Late Night in the Phog, presented by People’s Bank, will run from 6:45 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. Admission is free; doors will open at 6 p.m. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year’s Late Night will include an appearance by NFL Hall of Famer and former Jayhawk great John Riggins, whose name Kansas Athletics will add to the Ring of Honor at Memorial Stadium the following day at the KU-Baylor football game.

As is tradition at Late Night, fans are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items, which Kansas Athletics will donate to local food pantries.

Children 12 and under will not be admitted without an adult, and the Fieldhouse doors will be closed when the arena reaches capacity.

The event will feature music by the KU pep band, video highlights, introductions and scrimmages by the KU men’s and women’s basketball teams, and much more. Upon entry, all fans will receive a Jayhawk clapper courtesy of People’s Bank.
