Kansas Softball Hosts Fall Classic

Lawrence, Kan. – The Kansas softball team will offer a preview of its 2005 squad this weekend when it hosts the 2004 Jayhawk Fall Classic Saturday and Sunday at Arrocha Ballpark. The Jayhawks will face Washburn, Emporia State and Johnson County Community College in the event, which is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Oct. 2
Johnson County vs. Washburn, 10 a.m.
Johnson County vs. Emporia State, noon
Kansas vs. Washburn, 2 p.m.
Kansas vs. Emporia State, 4 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 3
Emporia State vs. Washburn, 10 a.m.
Kansas vs. Johnson County, noon
Seed #1 vs. Seed #2, 2 p.m.
Seed #3 vs. Seed #4, 4 p.m.

Kansas returns 10 letterwinners and welcomes five newcomers to the squad this season. Taking the mound for the Jayhawks this weekend will be junior righty Serena Settlemier, sophomore righty Kassie Humphreys and freshman lefty Christina Ross.

In 2004, the Jayhawks finished 33-28-1 overall including a 2-2 run in the Big 12 Tournament.
