Scouting Iowa State
Iowa State sits just above KU in the conference standings in the number five spot. The Cyclones are 4-1 in Big 12 play following a 3-1 victory over Texas Tech (30-15, 30-25, 28-30, 30-17) last weekend and 10-5 overall. In the Cyclones’ match with the Red Raiders, three players registered double-digit kills including Erin Boeve (17), Lauren Cummings (16) and Victoria Henson (12). Boeve also added eight block assists.

Boeve, a senior outside/right side hitter, has paced the Cyclones in conference matches averaging 4.11 kills per game. The ISU defense is held down by three players who dig up over three balls per game – Ashley Mass (5.17), Amy Vos (3.72) and Laura Cady (3.06).

The Series
Iowa State leads the all-time series against Kansas 36-33-1 and has won the last four matches.

Prior to the Bechard era, KU was just 1-18 in regular season matches in Ames, Iowa, but since Bechard took over the reigns in 1998, the team has gone 6-3 on the Cyclones’ home court.

1,000 Kill Club
Senior Emily Brown became just the 10th player in KU history to tally 1,000 career kills on Sept. 22 when she registered 10 kills to give her 1,001 so far in her career. Brown is currently 10th in Kansas’ career record books and needs just 47 more kills to move into the ninth spot.

POW Award
After notching a triple-double and double-double to help the University of Kansas volleyball team to a pair of conference victories, senior Emily Brown was tabbed Big 12 Offensvie Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 24, 2007. Brown became the first Jayhawk to earn the award since Josi Lima on Sept. 19, 2005 and just the seventh in KU volleyball history.
