Kansas Tennis Completes Singles Play on Final Day of Kentucky Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. –

Kentucky Invitational Results Get Acrobat Reader

Juniors Victoria Khanevskaya and Monica Pezzotti both took third place in their respective singles draws Sunday on the third and final day of the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The University of Kansas women’s tennis team went 2-4 during the final round singles competition.

Khanevskaya, a junior from Moscow, Russia, defeated Cleveland State’s Mengdi Liu, 6-3, 6-1, to take third in Singles Draw F. Pezzotti, a junior from Cucuta, Colombia, took down Alexis Garrett from Morehead State, 6-4, ret., to place third in Singles Draw E.

Sophomore Amy Barnthouse narrowly fell in the championship match of Singles Draw G to Eastern Kentucky’s Carmen Rodriguez, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3).

Beginning Tuesday, senior Ekaterina Morozova and sophomore Dylan Windom will compete in the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Tennis Championships. The duo has been selected as a doubles team to the main draw, while Morozova will also play in the singles qualifying draw.
