Kansas In Second At ORU Shootout, Pryor Leads

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas women’s golf team is currently in second place, in a 17-team field, after two rounds of the ORU Shootout. The Jayhawks shot a 312 in the first round and a 298 in the second at the at the Meadow Brook Country Club. The Jayhawks were the only team to shoot a sub 300 round on the day.

“Overall I am pleased with our performance today,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “If we stick with our strategy, I think we can bring home a team and individual victory.”

Kansas trails Oral Roberts by one stroke after the host school posted a 609.

Senior Chelsey Pryor leads the tournament by two strokes after posting back-to-back rounds of 74. Junior Jill Womble is tied for third with a 152 after a 78 and 74. Junior Amanda Costner and sophomore Annie Giangrosso each shot an 80 and 75 for a 155 and are tied for 14th. Senior Meredith Winkelmann is in 56th after an 82 and 84 totaled a 166. Sophomore Sarah Kierl, playing as an individual, is in a tie for 66th after rounds of 90 and 80.

The Jayhawks will begin final round play on Tuesday with tee times set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
