Oct. 4, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. – An off week did not keep Kansas from making its steady climb up the national polls as three major football polls were released on Sunday.

The Jayhawks started the year 25th in the AP preseason poll and advanced to 24th, 22nd, 20th, 18th and now 16th in those weekly listings. KU was not listed in the preseason coaches poll, but reached 25th, 23rd, 19th, 16th and now 15th. The Harris Interactive poll has just been released the last two weeks with KU 16th on both occasions.

Big 12 teams in the polls include Texas (No. 2 AP/No. 2 Coaches/No. 2 Harris), Oklahoma State (15/13/14), Kansas (16/15/16), Oklahoma (19/21/20), Nebraska (21/22/21) and Missouri (24/18/23).

The 4-0 Jayhawks, one of only 13 undefeated teams in the nation, host Iowa State on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11:30 a.m. The game will be televised nationally on Versus.
