Smith Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas junior forward Caroline Smith was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Smith’s honor give KU a total of four Big 12 weekly honors this season.
Smith tallied eight points in two games last week to give her the team lead in goals (six), assists (five) and points (17). Against Texas Tech, the Edina, Minn., native took a team-high seven shots and was able to break through with her fourth goal of the season in the 37th minute. In the second half, she assisted on another Kansas goal. Smith scored five points in the Baylor win off of two goals and an assist. She recorded the assist in the first half before adding the two second-half goals less than a minute apart.
The Jayhawks will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Columbia, Mo., to battle Border Showdown rival Missouri at 7 p.m. at the Audrey J. Walton Soccer Complex.
