Oct. 5, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The University of Kansas tennis team will continue its fall season this weekend when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., for the Hoosier Classic. The event will run Friday through Sunday, and features some of the nation’s top programs, including LSU, Notre Dame, and host-school Indiana.

The Classic consists of four singles brackets along with two round-robin singles tournaments.

This weekend will mark the first action of the year for 2006 All-Big 12 selection Elizaveta Avdeeva, who did not compete in Kansas’ first event of the fall.

KU is coming off a strong showing at the Deacon Classic, which was highlighted by sophomore Yuliana Svistun’s championship in the flight D singles bracket.

The Hoosier Classic is the second of four events that make up the fall schedule for the Jayhawks. Following this weekend, KU will compete in the ITA Central Regionals and the North Carolina Tournament before opening up its spring match season in late January.

Results from each day of the tournament will be updated at kuathletics.com as results become available.
