LUBBOCK, Texas – Emily Powers’ third top-10 performance of the season led the Kansas women’s golf team to a seventh place finish at the 14-team McHaney/Morehead Invitational at the Rawls Course.

The Jayhawks shot a final round 314 Tuesday to finish the tournament with 943 strokes.

Powers, a junior from Quincy, Ill., fired a third round 74 to finish the tournament in seventh place with a 227. She now has the lowest score of any Jayhawk in three of the team’s four tournaments this fall.

Sophomore Meghna Bal shot a 77 Tuesday to finish the tournament in 32nd place with a 238. Rounding out the Jayhawk lineup were sophomores Jennifer Clark (241, 48th place) and Grace Thiry (243, t-51st ) and freshman Kalynd Carson (244, t-53rd ).

Arkansas-Little Rock fired a tournament-low 297 Tuesday to overtake Baylor for first place in the team standings. The Trojans also had the top individual performer in Sara Wikstrom, whose seven-under-par 212 beat the second place finisher by eight strokes.

The Jayhawks conclude the fall season Oct. 24-26 when they travel to Auburn, Ala., to compete in The Derby, hosted by Auburn University. Check back to kuathletics.com for results and a complete recap of The Derby.
