Oct. 7, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas swimming and diving will compete in the annual Intrasquad meet at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8. in Robinson Natatorium. The team will be split into Crimson and Blue squads to compete against each other as preparation for the regular season.

“Our Intrasquad meet is coming with great expectation,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “It serves as a trial meet for our freshmen to experience a college order of events competition prior to our first dual in Arizona. Also, we are using this meet as the qualifying opportunity to earn a spot on the travel squad for Arizona. It should be a fun, spirited afternoon of racing.”

The Jayhawks, led by senior captains Joy Bunting and Brittany Potter, and junior captain Abigail Anderson, enter the season with 20 returning athletes and nine newcomers.

Following the Intrasquad meet, KU will travel to Arizona to take on Arizona, Arizona State, New Mexico State and UNLV in the Arizona Quad Duals Oct. 15 and 16. The first day of the meet is set to begin at 2 p.m.
