PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. –

Senior Ekaterina Morozova and sophomore Dylan Windom defeated a No. 8 ranked Virginia team, as the tandem advanced in the main doubles draw of the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Tennis Championships Friday in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The Kansas duo made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

“I am so extremely proud of Kate and Dylan,” Kansas head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “They played with no fear against a very talented Virginia team.”

Morozova and Windom, ranked 33rd in the Campbell/ITA Preseason Rankings, took down the No. 8 ranked Virginia tandem of Lindsey Hardenbergh and Erin Vierra, 8-5, to advance. The duo will play the third-ranked Florida pair of Sofie Oyen and Alli Will Saturday for a spot in the semifinals.

Thursday, Morozova and Windom downed Pepperdine’s Khunpak Issara and Ale Granillo, 8-4, to advance to the next round.

Morozova and Windom became the first Kansas tennis athletes to be selected straight to the main draw of the All-American Championships since Eveline Hamers qualified in 1990.
