WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Kansas women’s tennis team went 5-1 in singles play on the final day of the Tribe Invitational, as senior Victoria Khanevskaya and junior Claire Dreyer each won their singles flights to cap a strong performance in the Jayhawks’ second tournament of the season.

Dreyer also teamed-up with freshman Anastasija Trubica to win the Michelle O Doubles Flight on Saturday. Kansas finished the William & Mary-hosted tournament with a combined 19-9 record in both singles and doubles play.

Sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña also played in the finals of the Megan Moulton-Levy Flight, but an undisclosed injury forced her to retire two games into the second set against after losing the first, 7-5, to Virginia Commonwealth’s Olga Terteac.

Freshman Maria Jose Cardona and Junior Haley Fournier each took third place in their respective singles flights. Fournier routed Melissa Esnal Olguin of Old Dominion, 6-2, 6-0, in the third-place match of the Kristine Kurth Flight, while Cardona needed a third-set tiebreaker to fight off Harvard’s Amanda Li, 1-6, 7-6(5), 10-8 (tiebreaker), in the Lauren Nikolaus Flight.

In the consolation final of the Cherie Dow Flight, junior Paulina Los also used a third-set tiebreaker to take down Harvard’s Natalie Blosser, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 (tiebreaker), en route to a fifth-place finish.
