Kansas Women's Golf to Compete in Prices "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate

LAWRENCE, Kan.—Kansas women’s golf travels to Las Cruces, N.M., for the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate tournament hosted by New Mexico State at the New Mexico State University Golf Course Oct. 11-13.
“New Mexico State’s course sets up well for us,” said Kansas head coach Erin O’Neil. “It will be a good opportunity for us to shoot some low numbers. The main goal will be to make good decisions and stay focused throughout the tournament.”
Senior Meghna Bal finished with the best three rounds of her career at last year’s Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate finishing tied for sixth place with a score of 219 and led the Jayhawks to an eigth place finish overall.
The Jayhawks will be competing against Big 12 foes Baylor and Kansas State, as well as Boise State, Cal State Northridge, Cincinatti, Hawaii, Mississippi State, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, North Texas, Seatte, UC-Irvine and UTEP.
Last week Kansas finished eighth at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo. Senior Grace Thiry was the top finisher for the Jayhawks for the third straight event.
Thiry will be joined in the Kansas lineup by Bal, Jennifer Clark, averaging 77.4 strokes per round, Katy Nugent, averaging 75.1 strokes per round and Thanuttra Boonraksasat, averaging 77.9 strokes. Freshman Megan Potee, averaging 79.5 strokes, will be competing as an individual.
Kansas will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C., Oct. 25 and 26.
