Jayhawks Target November for Completion of McCarthy Family Clubhouse

Oct. 9, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas head baseball coach Ritch Price announced that the Jayhawks plan to move into their new clubhouse, the McCarthy Family Clubhouse, during the next month as construction on the 4,000-sq. foot building is completed.

The building, which sits behind the dugout on the first base side of Hoglund Ballpark, is expected to be complete in the next couple of weeks and will contain a locker room, a training room, a player’s lounge as well as an academic area for the student-athletes.

The Jayhawks initially broke ground during the early months of the 2008 baseball season and expect the clubhouse to be fully functional for the beginning of practice preceding the 2009 season.

The facility is named after donor Kent McCarthy and his family for their contributions to the project. The team will hold a dedication of the new clubhouse prior to their May 16 game against Kansas State.
