Kansas Picked No. 3 in Big 12 Preseason Coaches' Poll

Defending co-league champion Kansas has been selected third in Big 12 Preseason Coaches’ poll entering 2005-06 announced today.
For the first time in Big 12 history, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Texas is the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 title in a vote of the league’s head coaches. The Longhorns received 10 of 12 possible first-place votes in polling for the 2005-06 season.
Oklahoma earned the other two first-place votes and was picked second with 112 points. Kansas was chosen third with 89 points. The Jayhawks, who have won at least 23 games each of the last 16 seasons, are expected to be led by three newcomers who were McDonald’s All-America picks a year ago. OklahomaState, winners of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship each of the last two years, was selected fourth.
Texas Tech, Iowa State, Texas A&M and Missouri were next in the preseason selections. Each of the squads played in the postseason lastyear. Colorado, Nebraska, KansasState and Baylor rounded out the poll.
