Jayhawks Look to Rebound at Prestige at PGA West

The Kansas men’s golf team will try to improve upon its 13th-place finish at the Windon Memorial Classic when it travels to Palm Springs, Calif. to compete in the Prestige at PGA West. The tournament will be conducted at the Greg Norman Course (par-72, 7,156 yards) at PGA West on Oct. 15-16.
The Jayhawks will be led by junior Zach Pederson who is coming off a 36th-place finish at the Windon Memorial Classic. Pederson, who carries a scoring average of 75.44, finished tied for 31st at this event last year.
Sophomore Bobby Knowles will return to the Jayhawk line-up and he is the only other returnee who competed in the Prestige at PGA West last year. Knowles will try to improve upon his 70th-place finish at the 2006 Prestige at PGA West.
Junior Walt Koelbel will once again be a part of the Jayhawk line-up. He leads the team in scoring average with an average of 75.22 and he is the only Jayhawk to be apart of the line-up in all four fall events.
Senior Joey Mundy will be making his second appearance of the year at the Prestige at PGA West. Mundy tied for 67th in his only start so far this year at the Kansas Invitational.
Freshman Brad Hopfinger will make his third-straight appearance in the Jayhawk line-up. Hopfinger holds a solid scoring average of 75.33 through his first two collegiate events.
The field, which consists of 16 teams, will play 36-holes on Monday, Oct. 15 and then complete the event with the final round on Oct. 16.
