Oct. 12, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas women’s basketball team again will be among the most-televised teams in the nation during the upcoming season, making a minimum of seven national television appearances among 25 televised games.

The Jayhawks will make one appearance each on ESPN2 and the Big Ten Network, two on ESPNU and three on Fox Sports Net (FSN).

The Jayhawks will host Oklahoma State on Tuesday, January 12, at 11 a.m. on ESPNU. Thousands of area schoolchildren will attend the game as part of Kansas Athletics’ Schools for Success program. KU is one of only 18 institutions or conferences to receive an NCAA grant as part of the NCAA’s effort to increase awareness of women’s basketball.

The Jayhawks will also host UCLA (Dec. 3) and Iowa State (Feb. 25) on FSN. The other four national television appearances will be road games – at Iowa (Nov. 18) on the Big Ten Network, at Kansas State (Jan. 9) on FSN, at Texas Tech (Feb. 21) on ESPNU and at Baylor (Feb. 28) on ESPN2.

KU will play three games on FSN Regional networks. The Jayhawks will play at New Mexico State (Jan. 3) on FSN-Arizona, host Nebraska (Feb. 10) on FSN-Midwest and play at Colorado (Feb. 16) on FSN-Rocky Mountain.

Metro Sports in Kansas City will air five KU games – home games versus Missouri (Jan. 17), Colorado (Jan. 27), Kansas State (Feb. 7) and Texas (Feb. 13) and a road game at Oklahoma (Jan. 23).

Sunflower Broadband in Lawrence will air the 10 remaining home games. Coverage on Sunflower begins Sunday, November 1, at 2 p.m., when the Jayhawks play an exhibition game against Pittsburg State.
