Oct. 12, 2010
IRVING, Texas –
Kansas sophomore forward Carolyn Davis was named to the 2010 Preseason All-Big 12 team Tuesday, picking up honorable mention honors. Davis, who earned a spot on the 2010 Big 12 All-Freshman Team, was one of 13 players selected in a vote of the league coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote on their own players.
Davis averaged 10.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as a freshman, while leading the Big 12 and setting a Kansas single-season record for field goal percentage at 71.9 percent. Davis, who knocked down 105-146 shots from the floor, averaged 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during league play last season on her way to Freshman All-America honors.
Baylor became the first team in Conference women’s or men’s basketball history to claim all three of the Big 12 preseason individual awards. Brittney Griner was named Preseason Player of the Year, Brooklyn Pope captured Preseason Newcomer of the Year and Odyssey Sims was selected Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Joining Griner on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team are teammate Melissa Jones, Kelsey Bolte (Iowa State), Danielle Robinson (Oklahoma) and Danielle Adams (Texas A&M).
